I have pretty much tried every pair of shoes out there made for chefs and I think that I have finally found a pair that I will stick with. These shoes are not for everyone, but if you have wide feet and high arches these might be for you. Some of my shifts are over 14 hours long and my feet never hurt and my lower back seems totally fine, too. My one warning about these shoes is that they are not as non slip as I would like them to be, especially the first few days. As with most good wines, maybe these guys just need time and become better with age?

I don’t write many reviews but these shoes bring me out to say Bravo! I have looked for 13 years to find a pair of shoes that i can work in and not have horribly sore feet at the end of my work day. Something about how these shoes are designed are magical almost…but probably more scientific. I work in a hospital and am on concrete for 14 hours a day. Many days without even taking a 10 minute break. The rest of me hurts at the end of the day but not my feet. Thanks Birkenstock for another great shoe!

I have been a baker for 20 years. I studied in Germany, where most people in kitchens wear Birkenstocks. They have been the only work shoe I have ever worn since I started. The last pair of Birkenstock Tokyo’s (not Super Grip) I had lasted 6 1/2 years, being worn every day, five days a week. This latest pair started delaminating at the heel the first day I wore them. Not okay for a this cost of pair of shoes “Made In Germany”. I will stick with Birkenstock but as most everything else nowadays, they aren’t what they used to be.

I wear a US narrow and these shoes fits nicely with socks. Very comfortable for all-day wearing — walking, standing, sitting. My Morton’s neuroma does not bother me while I wear these. I wish I could get a brown pair.

Bought these for long shifts as a hospital RN. They will take some time to break in but I have no doubt that they will be as comfortable as my beloved Birkenstock sandals.

The Birkenstock Tokyo Super Grip is a great shoe. I have somewhat small feet with average to narrow width. However, I have problems with arthritis in my toes and bunion issues. I needed a pair of shoes that had a wider toe area without being wide throughout the rest of the shoe. This shoe is just perfect for me. They are adjustable across the top and around the back for a perfect fit. I just love them. I’m sure you will too.

These shoes are awesome! I work a 12 hour shift wearing these, which means I’m in them for about 14 hours. My feet are NEVER sore. No kidding! I wore Dansko for 15 years, but for a reason i am not sure of, my heels began to hurt and I could no longer wear them. These are my replacements and they are great. I wear a 8.5 so I bought size 39. My feet are medium width but in these shoes I order narrow.

This is my second pair of “work” Birkenstocks. I also wear the London.
I got this pair, hopeing hat will the open back, it was a little cooler on my feet than the London.
They are cooler for sure, but not as comfy, in my opinion.
While still one of the best shoes I have found to wear for long shifts, they seemed narrower than the London, around my toes.
I have had this pair for more than a year, and they wear VERY well! I clean the tops off with warm water every so often, and only wear them inside.
The bottom “super grip” is wonderful! It isn’t tacky to the floor like some work shoes are, but still keep me from slipping.
I prefer my London Birkenstocks for work, but these Tokyo make a great second pair.

I am definitely a Birkenstock girl. Nothing quite matches the arch support. Birkenstocks support all three foot arches! I love the back strap and really wish more clog styles have the back strap.

It is said all over the net that the ‘narrow’ are FINE for regular width feet. I dispute that claim. As a health professional on my feet for years on end, my feet are regular width because I buy the best shoes I can find. These narrow width will not do when your feet are sore and swollen at the end of your shift let alone the end of your 3rd 12-hr. shift in a row. Wait like I am for the Boston Super Grip to become available again, in the regular width.

I purchased the Tokyo about three months ago and have been wearing it regularly since then. Full disclosure, I don’t have a job that keeps me on my feet so most of my wear is day to day in the office or walking on the weekend. I found the Tokyo to have the comfort of the Boston but easier to walk in with the back strap which keeps my foot secure without the minimal slipping of the Boston style. I also have the Boston in the slip resistant style but rarely wear it, since the regular width was wider than normal regular width Boston’s and too wide for my foot. I bought this in the Narrow width and also found it to be wider than a normal Birkenstock Narrow. I wear a regular width Birk in most styles and found the Tokyo narrow fit fine so can’t agree with reviewers eh said this doesn’t work for a regular width foot. Point is, I think the slip resistant styles run wide. Overall, good show with usual Birkenstock comfort and minimal break in period.

Best non slip shoe I’ve bought! But since they are leather, they do show scratches.

Love. Love. Love. The non-slip is fantastic! Please bring these back! I need another pair!

I am a Registered Nurse. I have had Birkenstock forever, I’ve tried other brands and tennis shoes and nothing compares. I have a narrow foot and I need a slightly padded sock for 12 hours and my feet never hurt. I just wish these came in other colors, blue would be nice, pink would be great too!!!

I have high hopes for these shoes! In some Birkenstock shoes I wear a 41 N and sometimes a 42 N. The 41 N is a fine fit. I always need to add Spenco innersoles for aditional cushion and arch. For while the shoe seems perfect, my feet, alas are not. They are lighter in weight than I would have imagined. Thank you, Zappos, for carrying the narrow widths!

Bought these directly from Birks, zappos didn’t have my size. These are not 100 percent anti slip, I’ve slid twice behind my bar. The left shoe is impossible for me to break in. It hurts my arch and heel area. This is my 8th pair. This pair is God awful. This is also the first pair I’ve ever had to size down. Also the first pair to irritate my plantar fasciitis.

There is nothing like Birkenstock shoes. The workmanship of these German-made shoes is outstanding, and the design is truly beneficial for a human foot. I think that not only can you develop a foot problem with Birkenstocks, but you can actually relieve a problem you developed with another shoe.

I got these for my husband for Christmas. He is a New York City chef de cuisine. Meaning, lots of work on his feet for many hours.
He told me he’d like Birkenstocks for Christmas and I was super excited! I rave about mine all summer long!
He couldn’t be happier. He very rarely comments on how awesome something is working for him and he’s complemented his new ‘tokyo birks’ twice! Try them out!!
Isabel –
Heartbreaking! Such a great shoe — perfectly comfortable and supportive. But walking on my hardwood floors at home the squeaking is unbearable! The sole’s contact with anything other than carpet, sidewalk, or greasy restaurant floors will drive you crazy with the noise. I work in a hospital with no carpet in my unit, so these will not work. So disappointed. Birkenstock, please bring back this shoe with the traditional sole.

this shoe fits terrific! i wear birkenstock shoes, and sandals. i know there is a “breaking in” period so i’m wearing them around the house. i love these shoes. excellent arch support which is great for my knees, ankles and hips.

Fit was perfect, I’m usually a 9. I’m hoping the leather will soften with wear because it’s a little stiff. I plan on wearing these for 12 hour hospital shifts.

My chefs feet are happy

I wear a 39 in Birkenstock sandals and I ordered a 40 in this shoes for the extra toe room. They fit perfectly with socks on! I like that both the strap on the top and the heel strap can be adjusted. I am a nurse and an think these will be very comfy for long shifts.

Get what you expect from these, sizing and fit as other Birkenstocks. The Super-Grip soles and nice.
Alethea –
Birkenstocks the brand and shoes are amazing. I’m not happy with Zappos! I paid full price for shoes that should have been on clearance. They showed up in a bag, not in the original box. The shoes were squished and creased, and had dents and marks in the leather, and a black spot on the side of the sole. That’s just lousy shady business right there!
